Owl Tracksters compete at Dartmouth Relays

HANOVER, N.H. 1/8/12 – The Keene State College track team began its second semester, competing at the 43rd Annual Dartmouth Relays at the Leverone Field House in Hanover, N.H. on Sunday.

Senior Paige Mills (Keene, N.H.) had the top performances for the Owl women, placing fourth in the 3,000 (10:20.54) and fifth in the mile (5:08.52).

Freshman Melanie Escalante (New Canaan, Conn.) finished eighth in the 800 with a time of 2:25.76.  The team of junior Maggie Fitter (Branford, Conn.), sophomores Emily LaPlant (Hudson, N.H.) and Kristen Huckins (Westmoreland, N.H.) and Escalante placed seventh in the 4x400 relay (4:15.70).

In field events, freshman Sarah DiTonno (Wakefield, Mass.) placed ninth in the weight throw (38'-05.00') and 13th in the shot-put (34'-03.00"). 

In team scoring Keene State was fifth with eight points.  Dartmouth won the championship with 161 points.

Senior Sarbjit Singh (Lebanon, N.H.)  had the best showing by the KSC men, placing fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 41'-04.50".

In other field events, freshman Ben Keach (Newfields, N.H.) was eight in the shot-put (44'-00.50") and junior Phil Elmer (Cohoes, N.Y.) was 11th in the weight throw (38'-10.25").

On the track, junior Chris Plankey (Bristol, N.H.) finished seventh in the 800 (1:59.52), junior Tom Paquette (Bolton, Conn.) was 12th in the 3,000 (9:01.63) and sophomore Ryan Widzgowski (Camden, Me.)) placed 14th (4:30.93) in the mile race.

Keene State tallied five points to place seventh in the team standings.  The Big Green won the men's title with 69 points.
