KEENE, N.H. 10/31/12 – The Keene State women's volleyball team defeated rival Plymouth State University 3-0 in a quarterfinal match of the Little East Conference tournament at Spaulding Gym on Wednesday night.

The third seeded Owls (18-15) advance to the semifinals where they will face second seed Western Conn. State on Saturday (3 p.m.) The Colonials received a first-round bye.  The semifinals and finals of the tournament will be held at Quincy (Mass.) High school.

After surviving a 32-30 opening match, including five match points, Keene State went on take the next two matches by the score of 25-19 and 25-19.

Sophomore Sammy Dormio (Leesburg, Va.) who finished the match with 14 kills and 10 digs said the victory came down to confidence and trust.  "We developed a trust in each other. We were able to keep the ball and play or get the point.  I knew we could step up and beat them."

Freshman Kaylee Deluga (Dennis, Mass.) also had a fine match with 14 kills, and two blocks while fellow freshman  Angela Silveri (Poughquag, N.Y.) tallied 13 kills and six digs. 

Freshman setter Alexis Michal (Windham, Mass.) had 44 assists and 20 digs and first-year libero Kaitlin Boyer (West Greenwich, R.I.) added 15 digs.

Senior Casey Stoodley (Salem, N.H.) finished with 11 kills and 16 digs to lead Plymouth State, which concludes its season with a 15-18 record.  Senior Elisa Morin (Nashua, N.H.) had eight kills, and freshman setter Kirsten Perrota (Hudson, N.H.) dished out 29 assists. 

Keene State and Plymouth State have hooked up five times in the LEC tournament. The Owls have won the last three meetings.
