Tuller takes third in three-meter diving at NEISDA Championships

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MASS. 2/12/12 – Keene State College sophomore Josh Tuller (Plainview, N.Y.) finished third in the three-meter diving event at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships held at UMass-Dartmouth on Sunday.

Tuller tallied 362.20 points in the 11-dive event.  "I didn't think I was going to get third, so it's a good feeling," said Tuller, who had his best performance on the three-meter board at the championship.  "I didn't dive well this morning, but they got better during the day."

Tuller said hitting his front two-and- a-half full twist was a key dive for him.

Senior Derek Peabody (Haverhill Mass.) who set a school record (395.90 points) in the one-meter event yesterday, placed seventh in the three-meter competition on Sunday with 302.80 points. "I wasn't disappointed, but I did leave some dives out there," he said.

Sophomore Christian Francia (Hampton, N.H.) from host UMass-Dartmouth won the event with 475.10 points. He also won the one-meter event on Saturday.

Points accumulated in diving are added to swimming scores to determine an overall NEISDA champion. The swim races will be held Feb.17-19 at the Upper Valley Aquatics Center in White River Junction, Vt. The Keene State men are three-time champs, while the Owl women, who finished second last year, won consecutive titles from 2008-10.
