KEENE, N.H. 4/7/12 – Sophomore thrower Kristen Huckins (Westmoreland, N.H.) led the Keene State College track and field teams at the George Davis Invitational hosted by UMass Lowell on Saturday afternoon with her first place finish in the javelin.
Huckins, a local product from Keene High School, took first place in the event with a toss of 120'-11''and qualified for ECAC Championships in the process. Also in the javelin, freshman Nicole Marrero (Bristol, Conn.) finished in fourth place with a toss of 114'-11'' and qualified for Division III New England Championships.
On the track, senior Andrea Walsh (Bolton, Conn.) crossed the finish line in 11:17.10 to finish in fifth place in the 3,000 meter steeplechase to qualify for ECAC and NEICAA Championships.
Freshman Melanie Escalante (New Canaan, Conn.) placed eighth in the 800 meter race in a time of 2:20.31 and also hit the New England Division III Championship mark.
For the men, sophomore Angus Fisher (Northampton, Mass.) also hit the ECAC mark, but in the discus event with a toss of 143'-7'' and a fifth place finish.
On the track, junior Thomas Paquette (Bolton,Conn.) finished seventh in the two mile race, in a time of 9:27.68.
Also in the field events, junior Marcus Ferenc (Westmoreland, N.H.) placed eighth in the javelin with a toss of 161'.
The Owls return to the track on Saturday, as they will head to UMass Amherst.
