Kalin Billert nets three goals; Owls roll past Huskies 6-0

            KEENE, N.H. 9/22/12 – Senior Kalin Billert (Center Conway, N.H.) scored three goals, her third hat track of the season, to lead the Keene State College field hockey team to a 6-0 Little East Conference shutout win over the University of Southern Maine at Owl Athletic Complex on Saturday.

            "I just happen to be at the right place at the right time," said Kalin, who upped her team lead in goals to nine.  "Everything is coming together.  My teammates are making great passes."

            "When Kalin gets one, she just keeps on going," said her twin sister Alex Billert (Center Conway, N.H.).  "Everyone was hyped up before the game."

            Freshman Hayley Dolan (West Brookfield, Mass.) gave the Owls a 1-0 lead with her second goal of the season.

            Kalin Billert went to work, scoring two goals in a span of two minutes to give Keene State a 3-0 halftime lead. 

            Kalin Billert netted her third goal of the game a couple of minutes into the second half to make it a 4-0 game.

            Sophmore Marisa Lemoine (Berlin, N.H.) scored the Owls' final two goals, giving her four on the season.

            Sophomore Julia Forgione (Windham, N.H.), freshman Lyndsie Rabenius (North Hampton, N.H.), sophomore Melissa Habelow (Belmont, Mass.) and junior Leddy Gallagher (Acton, Mass.) picked up assists in the game for the Owls (4-4, 2-1 LEC).

            Keene State used all three of its goalies in the game.  Sophomore Caitlin Davino-Draper (Hanover, Mass.) started for the Owls and made two saves in her 45:14 of play between the pipes.  Freshmen Meaghan Dwyer (Rutland, Mass.), who didn't have a save in 16:49 minutes of play, and Chole Audesse (Goffstown, N.H.), who made one save over the final 7:57 of play, also saw time in the net.

            Junior Kayla Kennedy (Windham, Me.) started in goal for the Huskies and made three saves in the first 41:50 of play.  Junior Lindsey Fortin (Berwick, Me.) played the final 28:10 and stopped three shots.

            Southern Maine (4-5, 1-2 LEC) has dropped its last four games and suffered its third straight shutout.

            Keene State controlled play, outshooting the Huskies 19-4 and having a 9-2 advantage in penalty corners.

            Keene State is at rival Plymouth State on Wednesday (4 p.m.).  Southern Maine is at Salem State on Wednesday (6 p.m.).
