MEDFORD, MASS. 1/12/13 – Keene State College senior Janel Haggerty (Guilford, Conn.) won the high jump event with a mark of 5'-3.25" at the Tufts Invitational track meet held in Medford, Mass on Saturday.
Haggerty also placed second in the 400-meter race with a time of 1:02.62.
Senior Maggie Fitter (Branford, Conn.) also had a fine day on the track, placing third in the 600 (1:39.78) and fourth in the 1,000 (3:04.01).
Sophomore Kaitlin Wheeler (Exeter, N.H.) also finished third in the mile (5:22.36)
In field events, freshman Lucia Martin (Swanzey, N.H.) placed fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 8'-6.45".
The KSC women finished fifth in the team standings with 52 points. UMass-Lowell won the championship with 170.50 points.
In the men's competition, junior Ryan Widzgowski (Camden, Maine) placed third in the 800 (1:58.85) and the mile (4:19.77).
Freshman Devin Sanford (Holliston, Mass.) finished fifth in the 400 (53.30).
Keene State finished with 20 points at the meet which was won by Bates with 147 points.
The Keene State throwers will compete at the Dartmouth Invitational on Sunday.
