PLYMOUTH, N.H.  1/15/12 – The Keene State College women's basketball team posted its first Little East Conference victory of the season with a 62-41 win over rival Plymouth State University at Foley Gymnasium on Tuesday.

Keene State, which snaps a three-game losing skid, improves to 6-9 (1-5 LEC) while the Panthers (1-14, 0-6 LEC) are still looking for their first conference win of the season.

Senior Siobhan Carnell (Quincy, Mass.) scored 14 of her game high 20 points to lead the Owls. She also tied for game high with eight rebounds to go with three steals.

Keene State jumped out to an early 11-3 lead and never looked back.  Riding the hot-shooting of sophomore Christan Wojtas (Amherst, N.H.) and freshman Kelsey Cognetta (Stamford, Conn.), who was making her first start at the point, as well as a suffocating zone defense, the Owls pulled away from the Panthers.

Cognetta buried her second consecutive three-pointer to give KSC a 17-9 lead.  KSC finished the half with an 8-0 run that began with a three-pointer by Wojtas and concluded with a turn-around jumper by senior Siobhan Carnell (Quincy, Mass.) that gave the Owls to a 27-12 halftime lead.

Keene State came out of the break with an 8-2 run, going up 35-14 on a jumper by Wojtas, who finished with 12 points.

Cognetta, who tied her season high 12 points to go with five assists, found sophomore Courtney Roberts (Sutton, Mass.) all alone for a basket that put KSC up 45-21 at the 11:52 mark.  Freshman Ryanne Williams (Norwell, Mass.) had a breakaway lay-up, extending the lead to 54-30 with 5:31 to play.

Junior Krystin Corliss (Loudon, N.H.) had 13 points and eight rebounds to lead the Panthers.

Keene State had a 45-38 advantage on the boards.

Keene State shot 25-65 ((39%) from the field, but struggled behind the arc, going just 4-13 (31%).  They were 8-13 from the Line (62%).

PSU went 16-53, 30%) from the field and also had a tough time sdhoo0ting threes (6-23, 26%).  They were 3-6 (50%) from the line.
