BOSTON, MASS. 1/26/13 – Two members of the Keene State College track team posted New England Championship qualifying times with their performances at the Boston University Terrier Classic this weekend.
On Friday night, senior Maggie Fitter (Branford, Conn.) posted her qualifying mark with her 15th place finish (2:14.86) in the 800 meter race.
On Saturday, junior Ryan Widzgowski (Camden, Maine) reached the standard with his 47th place effort (4:16.97) in the mile.
Several Keene State athletes also competed at the Springfield College Invitational on Saturday.
Senior Janel Haggerty (Guilford, Conn.) turned in several strong performances for the Owls, winning in the 60-meter hurdles (9.32), placing second in the high jump (5'-0.425"), and finising seventh in the 800 (2:29.34) .
In other field events, freshman Lucia Martin (Swanzey, N.H.) was sixth in the pole vault (9'-00.25") junior Sarah DiTonno (Wakefield, Mass.) finished eighth in the shot-put (35'-0.9.50") and senior Whitney Cyr (Milford, Mass.) was eigth in the weight throw (42'-09.75").
On the track, freshman Lauren Markoe (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) was third in the 600 (1:41.66) and eighth in the 1,000 (3:18.39).
Sophomore Ben Keach (Newfields, N.H) had the top showing by the KSC men's team, winning the shot-put with a mark of 47'-09.75". Senior Dante Hill Longmeadow, Mass.) placed seventh in the event (43'-10.50").
Freshman Taylor Starbird (Windsor Locks, Conn.) placed eighth in the triple jump (40'-0.200").
On the track freshman Hayden Patterson (Dover, N.H.) finished ninth in the 600 (1:28.53) and 10th in the 1,000 (2:42.93).
In team scoring, the KSC women tallied 24 points to finish ninth in the 12-team field while the Owl men finished the meet with 10 points.
