Rabenius scores twice as Owls blank Lancers 4-0

WORCESTER, MASS 10/12/13 Keene State College remains on a roll, posting a 4-0 shutout road victory over Worcester State University in Little East Conference field hockey action on Saturday.

The Owls (12-2, 7-0 LEC), who are undefeated in the LEC; notch their sixth shutout of the season. Worcester State falls to 7-5 and 2-5 in league play.

Senior Lyndsie Rabenius (North Hampton, N.H.) led the Owls with two goals and an assist while freshman Sami Smith (Merrimack, N.H.0 and Kayla Renaud (Somers, Conn.) also found the back of the net for KSC.

Smith got the only goal of the first half when she took advantage of a misplay by the Lancer defense. Taking a pass from the right side of the circle, Smith scored her ninth goal of the season.

KSC added three more goals in the second half.  Renaud converted a cross from Rabenius to make it 2-0.  The score stayed that way until Rabenius scored off a scramble to make it 3-0.  Rabenius knocked in a rebound for her second goal of the game and her team-leading 10th of the season to round out the scoring.

Keene State scored four goals on its 10 shots while holding WSU to just two shots.

Sophomores Chloe Audesse (Goffstown, N.H.) and Meaghan Dwyer (Rutland, Mass.) shared the shutout in goal for the Owls. Audesse played the first 55:18 and didn't record a save while Dwyer stopped two shots. 

WSU Senior goalie Allison Romano (East Bridgewater, Mass.) finished the game with three saves.

Keene State is at RPI on Wednesday (6 p.m.).
