Owls split at LEC/NEWMAC Challenge

SOUTH HADLEY, MASS. – The Keene State women's volleyball team split its two matches at the Little East Conference/The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Challenge at Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium on Saturday.

After dropping its first match to Smith College 3-1 (21-25, 20-25, 25-17 and 29-31), Keene State (14-12) bounced back to defeat Mount Holyoke 3-1 (24-26, 25-21, 25-20 and 25-19).

Sophomore Angela Silveri (Poughquag, N.Y.) continued her stellar play against Smith, finishing with a season high 17 kills to go with 11 digs.  Classmates Olivia Broderick (Gilford, N.H.) and Christine Hadfield (Waterford, Conn.) also had strong performances, each had 12 kills.

Junior Sammy Dormio (Leesburg, Va.) had 33 digs while sophomore setter Alexis Michal (Windham, N.H.) finished with a season best 42 assists, three off her career high to go with 14 digs.

Silveri also had 17 kills against the Lyons as well as a career high 19 digs.  Broderick had nine kills and five blocks while Dormio finished with a team high 21 digs.  Michal had fine overall game as well with 26 assits and 10 digs.

Keene State is at Colby-Sawyer on Tuesday (7 p.m.).
