Box Score FRAMINGHAM, MASS. 10/26/13 – The Keene State College field hockey team took another step closer to the Little East Conference regular-season championship with a 6-0 shutout victory over Framingham State University on Saturday.
With one conference game remaining, KSC (15-3, 10-0 LEC) is looking for its 10thLEC regular season title. The alos hope to go undefeated in the conference. They accomplished that feat four times (1999, 2003, 2006, and 2011).
Six different Owl players found the back of net against the Rams (8-9, 2-8) on Saturday. Freshman Kayla Renaud (Somers, Conn.), who scored just 1:32 into the game, and junior Melissa Habelow (Belmont, Mass.), who also had two defensive saves in the game, scored first half goals for Keene State. It was Renaud's 11th goal of the season.
Junior Julia Forgione (Windham, N.H.), senior Katelyn Simula (Bridgewater, N.H.) and freshman Lauren Roche (Acton, Mass.) netted goals within a four minute span early in the second half to break the game open. For Roche it was her first college goal.
Senior Lyndsie Rabenius (North Hampton, Mass.) completed the scoring with her 11th goal of the season. Classmate Leddy Gallagher (Acton, Mass.) also had three assists in the game.
Making her first start of the season, sophomore Meaghan Dwyer (Rutland, Mass.), didn't record a save to notch her first career shutout. Freshman Sarah Palace (Auburn Mass.) made nine saves for Framingham State.
Keene State dominated play, outshooting the Rams 20-2 and having an 18-6 advantage in corner opportunities.
Keene State host Smith College on Tuesday (6 p.m.).
