MIDDLETOWN, CONN. 11/2/13 – Keene State College swim teams turned in some impressive performances against a strong field at the New England Invitational held at Wesleyan College on Saturday.
The Keene State men were dominant in the 1,000 free with senior Drew Ledwith (Keene, N.H.) finishing first (9:25.40) and sophomore Shahar Resman (Ashdod, Israel) placing second (9:31.41). Ledwith also won the 200 IM (2:00.15).
Sophomore Greg Youngstrom (West Hartford, Conn.) won the 50 free (21.32) and classmate Cole Hogg (Manchester, N.H.) placed first in the 500 free (4:50.69) while freshman Christopher Barriss (Glastonbury, Conn. was first to touch the wall in the 50 back (24.98). Senior James Black (Lynn, Mass.), freshman Ryan Boraski (North Attleboro, Mass.), Barriss and Youngstrom teamed up to take the 200 freestyle relay (1:25.87).
The lone win by the KSC women came in the 200 freestyle relay with senior Alexis Houser (New Hope, Pa.), junior Taylor DaSilva (Stony brook, N.Y.) and sophomores Brianna Laliberte (Candia, N.H.) and Alison Bartlett (Stratham, N.H.) posting a time of 1:40.98.
Bartlett also raced to second place finishes in the 200 free (1:59.64) and the 50 fly (27.78).
Keene State faces Springfield and Wheaton on Sat., Nov. 16 (1 p.m.).
