GORHAM, MAINE 2/16/2013 - Senior Maggie Fitter (Branford, Conn.) and junior Ryan Widzgowski (Camden, Maine) turned in the top performance for Keene State College at the New England Division III Track and Field Championships on Saturday.
Competing at the women's meet at Southern Maine, Fitter finished second in the 800 (2:17.67) and sixth in the mile (4:59.75). Freshman Lauren Markoe (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) was also fourth in the 800 (2:18.73)
Working on events for the pentathlon, Senior Janel Haggerty (Guilford, Conn.) placed fourth in the 55-meter hurdles (8.51) and fifth in the high jump (5'-02.25").
Keene State placed 14th in the team standings with 24.50 points. Tufts won the women's title with 116 points.
Racing at the men's championship at Bate College's Walter Slovenski track, Widzgowski finished second in the mile with a time of 4:13.83.
Sophomore Ben Keach (Newfields N.H.) also scored for the Owls at the championships, placing seventh in the shot put (47'-04.50").
Keene State tallied 14 points to finish 18th in the team standings. MIT captured the championship with 118.50 points.
