Box Score 4 PROVIDENCE, R.I. 9/14/13 – The Keene State College women's volleyball team posted a 2-2 mark at the Johnson and Wales University Wildcat Classic this weekend.
The Owls (5-5) lost its opening match on Saturday to Amherst College 3-0 (20-25, 16-25 and 22-25). They came back to sweep the host Wildcats in their second match 3-0 (25-18, 25-15m and 25-21).
In the match against Amherst, sophomore Angela Silveri (Poughquog, N.Y), who was named to the All-Tournament team, had 13 kills and six digs while sophomore Alexis Michal (Windham, N.H.) finisehd with 21 assists and nine digs). Silveri also had a stron match against Johnson and Wales, posting 13 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore Kaitlin Boyer contributed 20 digs and one service ace in th match.
Keene State split its two tournament matches on Friday night, defeating Mount Ida College 3-0 (25-15, 25-17 and 25-9) and losing to Wheaton College 3-1 (23-25, 22-25, 25-16 and 19-25).
Against Mount Ida, sophomores Angela Silveri (Poughquag, N.Y.) and Olivia Broderick (Gilford, N.H.) had eight and seven kills respectively. Freshman setter Brooke Bell (Melrose, Mass.) finished with 17 assists while sophomores Christine Hadfield (Waterford, Conn.) and Madeline Nossif (Portsmouth, N.H.) each had four blocks.
In the match against Wheaton, Nossif finished with nine kills and four blocks while sophomore Kaitlin Boyer (West Greenwich, R.I.) led the Owls defense with 16 digs. Sophomore setter Alexis Michal (Windham, N.H.) had 16 assists.
Keene State hosts Southern Vermont on Tuesday (7 p.m.).
