Owls split sets at Clark tri-match

WORCESTER, MASS 9/21/13 – The Keene State College women's volleyball team split a pair of sets at non-conference tri-match held at Kneller Gymnasium in Worcester, Mass on Saturday.

Keene State (8-6) dropped it first match of the day, losing to Coast Guard Academy 3-1 (22-25, 22-25, 25-14 and 21-25).   Sophomore Madeline Nossiff (Portsmouth, N.H.) had a career high 15 kills and six blocks to lead the Owls.  Classmates Angela Silveri (Poughquog, N.H.) had 14 kills and 12 digs and Kaitlin Boyer (West Greenwich, N.H.) had a team high 24 digs. 

The Owls came back to take their second match 3-1 over Clark University.  After losing the first set 25-17, KSC rallied to take the next three games 25-14, 25-18 and 25-16.  Junior Samantha Branning (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Nossiff led a balanced offense with 11 kills each. Silveri had 10 kills and eight digs while sophomore Catherine Kazazian (Merrimack, N.H.) finished with 10 kills and four digs. Freshman setter Brooke Bell (Melrose, Mass.) had 18 assists and Boyer chipped in with 16 digs.

Keene State is off until next Saturday when it travels to Eastern Conn. for a tri-match with Eastern Nazarene of Quincy, Mass.
