Box Score

GORHAM, MAINE 9/28/13– Junior Marissa Lemoine (Berlin, N.H.) scored a pair of goals to lead the Keene State College Owls to 4-2 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference field hockey game Saturday afternoon at Hannaford Field.

With the win, Keene State improves to 8-1 overall and remains undefeated in Little East Conference action at 3-0.  Southern Maine drops to 3-7 overall suffering its fifth straight loss and remains winless in conference action at 0-3.

Lemoine scored the first of her two goals in the 13th minute converting a redirected pass from senior Leddy Gallagher (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) to give the Owls a 1-0 edge.  Keene State doubled its advantage in the 23rd minute as sophomore Lyndsie Rabenius (North Hampton, N.H./Winnacunnet) took a well-played through ball from classmate Haley Dolan (West Brookfield, Mass./Quabog) setting her for a one v. one with the keeper.

Ahead 2-0, Keene State scored a pair of quick goals in the 29th and 30th minutes.  Senior Katylyn Simula (Bridgewater, N.H./Newfound Regional) notched a goal on an assist from Rabenius, while Lemoine tallied her second goal of the game following an assist from senior Aimee Donaruma (Hampden, Mass./Minnechaug) for a 4-0 lead before the half.

In the second half, USM made a game as junior forward Peyton Dostie (Standish, Maine/Bonny Eagle) scored her team leading sixth and seventh goals of the season.  Dostie scored her first goal on a breakaway.  Collecting the ball at midfield, Dostie used her speed to her advantage and rocketed in a shot to the upper left corner of the cage in the 47th minute.   In the 51st minute, Dostie collected a ball, again at midfield, and weaved her way through a pair of defenders before unleashing another powerful shot to pull USM to within striking distance of Keene State, trailing the Owls 4-2.

However, Keene State's defense held over the final 19 minutes to secure the win.  Keene State sophomore Chloe Audesse (Goffstown, N.H.) allowed one goal and made four saves in 46:19, earning the win.  Sophomore Meaghan Dwyer (Rutland, Mass./Wachusett) finished the final 23:41, allowing a goal.  USM senior Kayla Kennedy (Windham, Maine) made 12 saves in the loss.  Sophomore Marina Davidson (Windham, Maine) made a defensive save.
