HANOVER, N.H. 1/12/14 - The Keene State College's track team began the second semester by competing at the 45th Dartmouth Relays at Laverone Field house in Hanover, N.H. on Sunday.
Both teams finished in 11th place. The KSC women tallied six points while the Owl men had five points. Dartmouth College won both team titles.
Sophomore Lauren Markoe (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) posted the top performances by the Keene State women's team, finishing fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:23.19.
The Owl 4x800 relay team of junior Kait Wheeler (Exeter, N.H.), sophomore Samantha Goldsmith (Derry, N.H.), freshman Carli Davis (Chester, N.H.) and Markoe placed sixth with a time of 10:14.14.
In field events, senior Sarah DiTonno (Wakefield, Mass.) was 11th in the shot put with a mark of 38'-00.00".
Senior Dante Hill (Longmeadow, Mass.) had the top showing by the KSC men's team, finishing sixth in the shot put with a throw of 50'-10.75" (15.51-meters).
Both Hill and DiTonno qualified for the ECAC championships with their marks in the shot. Hill's throw is a new school record, besting the previous mark of 15.35 meters set by Bryan Kolacz in 2011.
Keene State also had a pair of seventh place finishes on the track. Senior Ryan Widzgowski (Camden, Maine) was seventh in the mile (4:22.65) and classmate Chris Plankey (Bristol, N.H.) raced to a seventh place finish in the 800 (2:01.16).
Keene State competes next Saturday at the Tufts Invitational
