Owls fall to Warriors 84-53

WILLIMANTIC, CONN. 1/22/14 – The Keene State College men's basketball team dropped an 84-53 Little East game to conference front-runner Eastern Conn. State University Wednesday night at Geissler Gymnasium. The game was rescheduled due to Tuesday's snow storm.

The Owls, who have lost their last two games, fall to 5-10 (2-4 LEC).   The Warriors (12-4 (6-0 LEC) have won four straight games.

Junior Tom Doyle (Wallingford, Conn.) was the lone KSC player to finish in double figure with a game high 23 points. He also had seven rebounds and four steals.

Senior Mike Garrow (Terryville, Conn.) led a balanced Warrior attack with 20 points and 10 rebounds. 

The Warriors broke open the game late in the first half. They outscored the Owls 21-4 over the final six minutes of the half to take a 41-26 lead to the locker room.

KSC struggled in the shooting department, going 19-62 (31%) from the field, hitting just three of its 18 three-point shots (17%) and going 12-20 (60%) at the line.  The Owls also lost the battle of the boards 48-33.

The Owls will be back at Spaulding Gym on Saturday (3 p.m.) for a LEC game against UMass-Boston.
