Box Score KEENE, N.H.--The Keene State College women's
basketball team set a new single game school record for rebounds in
an 83-61 non-conference victory over Daniel Webster College on
Thursday night. Ryanne
Williams (Norwell, Mass.) and Carly Kiernan
(Topsfield, Mass.) both had double-doubles to lead to Keene State
attack.
The Owls (11-7) pulled down 74 rebounds, including 33
offensive, to break the previous mark of 68 set against Johnson
& Wales in 2008. Keene State dominated the glass,
outrebounding Daniel Webster 74-33.
Williams had 12 points and 11 rebounds in 22 minutes
off the bench, while Kiernan had 11 points and 12 boards.
The Eagles (8-11) jumped out to an early 10-8 lead
behind a three pointer from Ariel Guzman (Yonkers, N.Y.) and a pair
of free throws by Ashley Giampetruzzi. (Manchester, N.H.)
KSC responded with 11 consecutive points, as Christan
Wojtas (Amherst, N.H.) buried a triple and Kiernan capped the
run with two free throws. Guzman knocked down another three
to cut the lead to 28-26 with 7:12 to play, but Keene State went
into the break up 48-35, getting baskets from Williams and Kiernan
in the final minute.
The Owls turned on the gas in the second half, taking
a 65-43 lead on Jovan
Kingwood's jumper with 9:43 to play. KSC took their
biggest lead of the game at 83-52 on Laurie Allien's
(Medford, Mass.) lay up with 1:56 to go.
Daniel Webster was led by 19 points from Kayla Free
(Quincy, Mass.). Guzman finished with 14.
KSC returns to Little East play by welcoming the
University of Southern Maine to Spaulding Gym for a 1 p.m. tip-off
on Saturday, February 1. Daniel Webster will also be in
action on Saturday, hosting Wheelock at 1 p.m.
