Box Score KEENE, N.H. - Senior forward Marisa Lemoine found the back of the net twice to lead the Keene State field hockey team to a 3-0 conference win over Worcester State Saturday afternoon at Owl Athletic Complex.
With the victory, the Owls improved to 9-4 overall and remain undefeated in LEC play at 7-0, while the Lancers fell to 7-6 and 3-4 in conference.
Lemoine wasted no time as she gave Keene State the 1-0 advantage just 53 seconds into the contest when she gathered a rebound off the goalkeeper.
In the closing minutes of the first half, the Owls were awarded a penalty corner where Melissa Habelow ripped a shot from the top of circle that deflected off Lemoine's stick past the netminder for her seventh goal of the season and 2-0 lead going into halftime.
Habelow rounded out the scoring for Keene State as she blasted a feed from Brittney Cardente and Marita Brothers past the reach of the Worcester State goalkeeper for her sixth tally of the year at 43:44.
Meghan Pini had the best chance for the Lancers with 8:16 remaining in the game when her shot trickled just wide of the Owls goalpost.
Keene State outshot Worcester State 22-4 and had the advantage in corners 10-0.
Meaghan Dwyer earned the shutout to improve her overall record to 6-3. Kathryn Salemme collected nine saves in the defeat and fell to 7-6 on the season.
Worcester State looks to get back on the winning track Tuesday when they host cross-town rival Clark University. The Owls host RPI Wednesday at 6 pm in what could be head coach Amy Watson's 350th career win.
