Box Score

CASTLETON, Vt. – The Keene State field hockey team played the remaining 3:06 of their weather-postponed game with Castleton State Friday afternoon at Owl Athletic Complex resulting in a 5-2 win.

The Spartans (1-11) went ahead 1-0 in the first half on a goal by Kristy Pinkham but scores by Marita Brothers and Sami Smith in a five-minute span gave the Owls the lead. Brothers took a corner feed from Brittney Cardente at 40:20 and Smith scored unassisted on a two vs one breakaway.

Castleton struck right back and tied it up just three minutes later when Haley Spittle found the back of the net, but two more goals scored by Smith (56:50) and Marisa Lemoine (59:06) pushed the KSC lead to 4-2.

Haylie Dolan finished off a pass from Smith with 1:35 remaining for the final score of the contest.

Keene State finished with a 23-13 advantage in shots and 13-8 edge in corners. Meaghan Dwyer made four saves in the win, while Jess Galatioto turned away 12 shots in a losing effort.

The Owls (11-4) look to go 8-0 in LEC play tomorrow at Eastern Connecticut State at 12pm.
