Box Score

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Melissa Habelow's late goal powered the Keene State field hockey team to a 2-1 win over Smith College Tuesday night. The loss drops the Pioneers to 4-13 while the win moves the Owls to 15-4 on the season as they finished the month of October undefeated.

The Pioneers struck first when junior Kat Estes converted a penalty stroke attempt for her fourth goal of the season in the 28th minute.

Keene State got two second half goals from Mariah Barnett and Melissa Habelow. Barnett took a cross from Sami Smith and put home the shot for her seventh goal of the season. Off a Keene State penalty corner, Habelow stepped up and slapped a shot past the Pioneers goalkeeper at the 62-minute mark for the game winner.

Goalkeeper Nora Demick made eight saves in the cage for Smith while Meaghan Dwyer notched four saves in goal for Keene State.

The Owls, who have already claimed the LEC regular season crown, will look to complete an undefeated conference schedule when they travel to UMass Dartmouth Saturday at 12 p.m.
