Swimming and Diving Continues at MIT Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--The Keene State College men's swimming and diving team hit six more NCAA B-cuts on the second day of competition at the MIT Invitational on Saturday.

The first of the day came in the 200 free relay, where Ryan Boraski, Cole Hogg, Luke Sprague, and Greg Youngstrom finished second in 1:22.56, nearly a second ahead of the standard mark of 1:23.30.

Cole Hogg hit a B-cut in the preliminary race of the 200 fly, in 1:53.45, as did Shahar Resman in the finals of the 200 free, winning in 1:39.44.

Nathan Shepard also put his name in contention for a trip to the NCAA Championships, with a second place finish in 56.65 in the 100 breast, where a photo finish saw him .12 seconds out of winning.  Resman hit his second B-cut of the night with a second place finish in the 400 IM, in 4:02.59.  Teammate Chris DiGiacomo was also in the mix, with a fourth place finish in 4:03.62 to hit a B-cut.

Youngstrom hit an individual B-cut, in the preliminary of the 50 free where he finished in a tie for second place in 20.74.

For the KSC women, Diana Pimer clinched a B-cut time in the 400 IM, in 4:36.17.  Pimer nearly hit another in the 100 breast, in 1:05.82.  Alison Bartlett also had a B-cut in the 50 free, in 23.61.

Through two days of competition, the Owl men are in second place with 491.5 points.  KSC's women's team is in sixth with 187 points, but it should be noted that more than half the Owl women were at the Little East Conference Championship on Saturday and did not compete in Cambridge.

The meet concludes on Sunday.
