GORHAM, Maine--The Keene State College track and field squads
competed at the Little East Conference/Alliance Track and Field
Championships at the University of Southern Maine on Saturday at
the USM Field House. The KSC women finished second in the LEC
and the MASCAC Alliance, while the men finished third in the LEC
and fifth in the Alliance.
Keene State got a win in the 3,000 meters from Samantha
Goldsmith (Derry, N.H.), who topped the field with a time
of 10:47.18, while Brianna
Enderson (Manchester, N.H.) won the 5,000 meters in
18:58.16.
Lauren
Markoe (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) picked a trio of second place
finishes, one as part of the 4x800 meter relay team with Katelyn
Terry (Strafford, N.H.), Molly
Schaefer (Center Moriches, N.Y.), and Carli
Davis (Chester, N.H.) that clocked in with a time of
10:10.39. Markoe also finished second in the 600 meters in
1:38.77, and in the 1,000 meters, where she was just .02 out of
first in 3:05.58.
Terry also nabbed a win in the 800 meters in 2:21.02.
The Owls finished with 104 points, second to champion Southern
Maine, who finished with 208.50.
Keene State's Christopher Plankey (Bristol, N.H.) led the Keene
State men by winning the 800 meters in 1:59.52, the only runner to
break two minutes in the event. For the second straight year,
Ryan Widzgowski (Camden, Maine) won the 1,000 meters, with a time
of 2:32.31, and Hayden Patterson (Dover, N.H.) won the 5,000 meters
with a time of 15:39.65. Widzgowski also finished third in
the 600 meters in 1:22.80, and
Widzgowski and Patterson were part of the 4x800 meter relay team
that finished second in 8:12.62, joined by Ryan Milewski (Ashland,
Mass.) and Ryan Brady (Durham, N.H.). Brady picked up a
second place spot in the 1-mile run in 4:26.10, as did Patrick
Chabot in the 3,000 meters in 9:03.89.
Ben Keach (Newfields, N.H.) added to the Owls' tally by winning
the shot put with a toss of 14.50 meters (47'-7") and finishing
second in the weight throw (18.34m/60'2").
The Owls finished with 116 points, behind the champions
UMass-Dartmouth, who totalled 157 points, and host Southern Maine,
who finished with 136 points.
Keene State will be back on the track next weekend, traveling to
MIT for the New England Division III Championships.
