BOSTON, Mass.--Ryan Widzgowski (Camden, Maine) was part of a record setting relay team and was two seconds shy of the school record in the mile as the Keene State College track and field teams competed at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University over the weekend.
Widzgowski set a new season best with a time of 4:08.07; the Keene State record is 4:06.02, set by Mark Miller in 2003. Widzgowski was the second fastest Division III runner in a field of 301 competitors.
Widzgowski was also part of the 4x400 meter relay team with Devin Sanford (Holliston, Mass.), Ryan Milewski (Ashland, Mass.), and Hayden Patterson (Dover, N.H.) that finished in a record setting 3:27.78. The previous record of 3:28.40 was set in 2008 by Peter Najem, Craig MacPherson, Frank Radlof, and Kevin Kelleher.
Sanford nearly set a record of his own in the 400 meter dash, with a time of 50.80; the KSC record is 50.74, held by Adrian Packard and set in 2002.
Ryan Brady ran the 3,000 meters in 8:36.90, while Milewski finished the 800 meter run in 1:58.08.
Lauren Markoe (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) led a four woman contingent in the 800 meter run in 2:16.34, followed by Katelyn Terry (Strafford, N.H.) in 2:19.84, Lindsey Terry (2:30.91), and Alyssa Lombardi (Southington, Conn.) in 2:30.86.
Allison Brady (Weymouth, Mass.) finished the 400 meter dash in 1:02.22, and Carli Davis (Chester, N.H.) ran the 1-mile in 5:22.36. Freshman Elizabeth McGurk (New Ipswich, N.H.) posted a time of 19:27.07 in the 5,000 meters, along with Brianna Enderson (Manchester, N.H.) in 19:29.59 and Hannah Doolittle (Hampstead, N.H.) in 19:40.48.
The Owls will be back on the track at the LEC Championships on Saturday, February 15.
