BOSTON, Mass.--In the final tune-up for the NCAA Championships, senior Ryan Widzgowski set a new school record in the 1,000 meters at the ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston on Saturday.
Widzgowski won the event in 2:26.33, breaking the record of 2:27.13 previously held by Mark Miller and set in 2001. Widzgowski is already part of the school record holding 4x400 meter relay group, and has the second fastest mile time in school history.
Ryan Brady was also competing for KSC, running the 3,000 meters in 8:37.87, placing seventh.
Lauren Markoe placed seventh in the 800 meters, clocking in at 2:17.56.
Markoe and Widzgowski will be KSC's entrants into the NCAA Championships, held March 14-15 at the Devaney Center in Lincoln, Neb. Markoe is currently 10th in the country in the 800 meters, while Widzgowski has the fourth best time in the 800 meters and the fifth best time in the mile.
