LOWELL, Mass.--Samantha Goldsmith qualified for the ECAC Championships in the steeplechase as the Keene State College track and field teams competed at the George Davis Invitational at UMass-Lowell on Saturday.  

Running the steeplechase for only the second time, Goldsmith pulled away after the first lap to win in 11:24.45.  Other standouts for Keene State included Nicole Marrero, who won the javelin with a throw of 39.27 meters.  Marrero's throw was a personal best and is within a couple meters of the NCAA qualifying list.

Carli Davis finished third in the 3,000 meters in in 10:40.10, and Katelyn Terry took fourth in the 400 meter dash in 1:00.27, and fifth in the triple jump at 10.42 meters.

The Keene State men were led by Ben Keach, who placed in the top 10 in four different throwing events.  Keach set a new PR in the javelin, with a toss of 57.84 meters, placing third.  Keach was also third in the discus (43.64 meters), fourth in the shot put (14.44 meters), and seventh in the hammer (42.85 meters).

Eric Dietz placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 51.38, as well as fourth in the 200 meter dash, in 23.81 seconds.

The Owls continue the spring season at the Springfield College Invitational on April 19.
