Box Score

FITCHBURG, Mass. - Kayla Renaud registered two goals as Keene State defeated Fitchburg State, 3-0 in Little East Conference (LEC) field hockey action Saturday morning at Elliot Field.

In the opening frame, Keene State took the lead at the 6:43 mark as Sami Smith collected a rebound off the stick of Marisa Lemoine and tucked the ball inside the near post for the 1-0 lead.

The Falcons best scoring chance of the half came 13 minutes into the stanza when Julia Gimenez and Julia Pecoraro put back-to-back shots on target that KSC keeper Meaghan Dwyer turned aside to preserve the 1-0 advantage going into intermission.

Following the break, the Owls doubled their margin (2-0) in the 46th minute of play as Renaud put home a rebounded shot from Brittney Cardente for her fourth tally of the season. Keene State caped the game's scoring 15 minutes later as Renaud received a pass from Marita Brothers and blasted a shot into the back of the cage for her second score of the contest, resulting in the 3-0 final.

Throughout the contest, the Owls controlled the offensive front, out shooting Fitchburg State 42-15, while limiting the Falcons to just three penalty corners. In the cage, Dwyer collected seven stops for the Owls en-route to the victory, while Lucy Holewa finished with 17 saves in the complete game effort for the Green and Gold.
