Box Score KEENE, N.H. - The Keene State College field hockey team was unable to erase a three-goal first half deficit in their 3-0 loss to Trinity College Tuesday night at Owl Athletic Complex.
Just four minutes into the game, Sophie Doering opened the scoring as she collected her own rebound off the goalkeeper with her second goal of the season.
The Bantams went up 2-0 when Kelcie Finn's shot rebounded to Casey Quinn who fired it into the cage for her first score of the year.
Finn rounded out the scoring for the game as she found the back of the net for her 11th tally of the year and the 3-0 final.
The Owls best chance of the first half came from a corner where Melissa Habelow blasted a shot from the top of the circle that was turned away from Sophie Fitzpatrick.
KSC kept the pressure on Fitzpatrick and the Bantam defense in the second half when Marisa Lemoine had two one-on-one opportunities to send it past the goalkeeper, but was unable to connect.
Meaghan Dwyer made four saves in the loss and was relieved by Shauna Whittemore, who recorded six stops in the second half. Habelow was outstanding on defense collecting three defensive saves in the game.
Fitzpatrick turned away 10 shots to earn the shutout for the Bantams.
Trinity held a 19-12 advantage in shots and had a slim advantage in penalty corners, 6-5.
Keene State returns to action against Southern Maine on Saturday, September 27, with a LEC home contest beginning at 1:30 p.m. The Bantams host Bates Saturday at 11 a.m.
