Field Hockey Remains Undefeated in LEC With Win Over USM

KEENE, N.H. - Four Owls score as Keene State field hockey remains undefeated in LEC play with 4-1 win over Southern Maine.

Melissa Habelow struck first for the Owls (5-4, 3-0 LEC) 6:44 into the game off a penalty corner. Just over ten minutes later, Kayla Renaud's unassisted score at 16:43 proved to be the eventual game-winner for the Owls. Mariah Barnett put home a pass from Marisa Lemoine at 23:56 for her first collegiate goal to give Keene State a 3-0 lead going into halftime.

Brittney Cardente scored an unassisted goal, her third of the season, at 44:04 of the second half for the Owls,

At 53:01, the Huskies (4-5, 1-2 LEC) converted on a penalty stroke taken by Peyton Dostie.

KSC outshot the Huskies 18-11,  while USM held a slim 9-8 advantage in corners. Shauna Whittemore earned the victory stopping all seven shots she faced. Meaghan Dwyer entered the game to face the penalty stroke by the Huskies. For USM, Amanda Kasbohm took the loss registering four saves and allowing four goals against. Angela Porrazzo played the final eight minutes of the game for the Huskies.

Both teams return to action on Tuesday, September 30 for conference games. The Owls travel to Plymouth State, while the Huskies  are at Salem State.
