WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.--Samantha Goldsmith's 26th place finish led the Keene State College women's cross country team to a 10th place finish at the Purple Valley Invitational, hosted by Williams College on Saturday.
The meet, contested at the site of November's NCAA Regional Championships, saw Goldsmith traverse the 6K course in 23:35.6. The Owls were running competitively for the first time in two weeks. Kait Wheeler was KSC's second finisher in 24:27.1, just ahead of Kaley Mientkiewicz (24.42.0). Lindsay Szuch was just behind in 24:49.6, and Molly Schaefer rounded out the scorers in 25:00.9.
MIT won the women's portion of the race by placing the top two runners and four of the top nine. Sarah Quin was the individual medalist in 22:23.9.
For the KSC men, Ryan Brady crossed the finish first in 32nd place, with a time of 27.11 over the 8K course. Mark Rabasco was the Owls' next runner in 28:04.01, seconds ahead of Philip Parent in 28:07.8 and Ben MacDonald in 28:35.2.
Colby's David Chelimo won the individual race with a time of 25:42, leading the Mules to a team win.
