Box Score KEENE, NH - The Keene State College women's basketball team overcame a 9-0 deficit to beat Worcester State, 60-53 in non-conference basketball action Thursday night at Spaulding Gym.
The Owls improve to 9-5, while the Lancers dip to 11-4 on the season.
The Lancers jumped out to a 9-0 lead, holding KSC scoreless for the first 5:49 of the game. A steal and fastbreak layup by Stephanie D'Annaolfo sparked an 8-0 run by the home team to come within one at the 11:20 mark.
A 7-0 run by Lancers was answered by layups from Sarah Kober and Amanda Petrow and a trey by Sandi Purcell to make the score 16-15 with 5:44 remaining.
Bianca Langford's jumper with 10 seconds left in the half gave the Lancers a 28-25 advantage going into the break.
Kober's layup with 12:08 in the second stanza, followed by a Purcell 3-pointer and Kelsey Cognetta jumper gave the Owls their largest lead of the game at 42-36. Tied at 47 with 6:57 remaining, a Cognetta trey followed by a layup by Courtney Roberts gave the Owls enought breathing room to secure the win.
Keene State was led by Cognetta's 15 points, including 6-6 from the free throw line followed by Amanda Petrow's 12 points and five boards. Sarah Kober was close to a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.
Bianca Langford had a monster game for Worcester State recording a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds. Julie Frankian added 11 points and five boards, while Shannen El-Quasem contributed six points and six rebounds.
Keene State returns to conference play Saturday when they host UMass Dartmouth at 1 p.m.
