Owls Overwhelmed By Warriors

KEENE, N.H.--Eastern Connecticut State University ran out to a 18-5 lead and never looked back in a 95-71 win over Keene State College in Little East Conference men's basketball action at Spaulding Gym on Tuesday night.

Keene State falls to 12-3, with a 4-2 mark in the LEC, while the Warriors extend their Little East unbeaten run to 25 games, and are now 14-3, and 6-0 in the LEC.

Jeff Lunn and Dizel Wright led KSC with 10 points each.  All five starters for the Warriors scored in double-figures, including 23 from Trachone Preston.  Brandon Yarborough tossed in 19, while Hugh Lindo and Tarchee Brown each added 14 and Kevin Leumene had 12.  

Lindo and Yarborough each had nine boards for the Warriors, who outrebounded KSC 47-36.

Jaquel Edwards scored the first basket of the game, but the Warriors responded with 12 straight points, including a thunderous dunk by Lindo.  After Nate Stitchell knocked down a three to get the Owls within seven, ECSU reeled off six more points, 

Lunn converted a three point play with 10:23 left in the first half to get KSC within 26-15, but the Warriors scored the next 12 points, all on three pointers by Yarborough, Preston twice, and Leumene.  Eastern Connecticut stretched their advantage to 40-18 and led 59-28 at halftime.

Tom Doyle's three pointer with 15:04 to play got the Owls within 66-41, but the Warriors led by as many as 32 on Brown's three pointer with 2:42 to play.

Keene State heads to Lasell College on Thursday night for a 7:30 pm tip.  The Warriors host Rhode Island College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
