Men's Hoop Hammers Lasell, 93-69

NEWTON, Mass.--Playing for the sixth time in 12 days, the Keene State College men's basketball team showed no ill effects with a 93-69 win over Lasell College on Thursday night.

The Owls improved to 13-3 with the win, which drops the Lasers to 4-10.  Keene State was dominant in every facet of the game, shooting 55% from the field, 40% from the free throw line, and 85% from the charity stripe, while outrebounding Lasell 40-36 and forcing 17 turnovers.  

All 18 players saw the court for Keene State, and 15 of them scored.

Dizel Wright had 17 points on perfect 7-for-7 shooting from the field, with six assists, five rebounds, and four steals.  Jeff Lunn also added 17 with a team high seven boards.  Nick Gagliolo tossed in 10 off the bench.  

KSC was up 17-4 by the time the game was four minutes old.  Tom Doyle scored seven points during that stretch, which was capped by Wright's steal and assist to Matt Ozzella.

The Owls poured it on, making 14 of their first 16 shots and taking a 26-6 on Paul Emdin's three point shot with 13:07 on the clock.

The Lasers went on a 16-8 run over the next five minutes to pull within 34-22, but Wright scored eight consecutive points to boost the lead back up to 45-24.  KSC led 57-35 at halftime.

There was no second half letup, as Lunn netted consecutive baskets for a 65-38 lead, and led by as many as 28 on Matt Reese's layup with 23 seconds remaining.

"It's nice to go on the road to get a win in a tough environment," said head coach Rob Colbert. "The guys definitely responded after the Eastern Connecticut game and competed at a really high level.  Jeff was the recipient of a lot of layups.  We took advantage of their zone, hit some threes and made them extend out."  

Keene State returns to conference play with a road trip to UMass Boston on Saturday at 3 p.m.  Lasell travels to GNAC foe Suffolk at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
