KSC Volleyball Sweeps Western Connecticut State, Oswego State

KEENE, N.H.--A long day of volleyball saw Keene State College pick up a pair of wins on Saturday at Spaulding Gym.  The Owls won a crucial Little East Conference contest 3-2 (25-15, 13-25, 26-28, 25-18, 15-9) over Western Connecticut State University, then earned another 3-2 (17-25, 25-19, 25-13, 16-25, 15-11) win over Oswego State.

Cat Kazazian hit .400 and Madeleine Nossiff and Rachel Lamica each had a team high 14 kills as the Owls battled back from 2-1 down for the win.  

Alexis Michal had 52 assists, 23 digs, and four service aces; KSC was down 24-18 in the third set but battled back to force extra points before falling 28-26.  The momentum carried over as the Owls took a 25-18 win in the fourth set and a decisive 15-9 win in the fifth to move into first place in the Little East Conference.

KSC improves its record to 17-8, and 4-1 in the LEC.  The Colonials fall 15-10, and 3-2.

Oswego State

Nossiff spearheaded the attack again, hitting .407 with 14 more kills.  The Lakers took the first set 25-17, but KSC looked to be heading for a win after taking the second set 25-19 and the third 25-13.

Oswego State took the fourth 25-16, but KSC went on a 6-1 run in the fifth and final set to seal the win.  Rachel Lamica and Angelia Silveri each had 10 kills, while Michal piled up 46 more assists with 16 digs.  

Keene State heads out of conference for a road match up with Western New England on October 20 at 7 p.m.  Oswego State heads for SUNYAC Pool Play at Geneseo State next Friday and Saturday, while Western Connecticut State hosts John Jay on Friday evening.
