Men's Basketball Thumps UNE To Improve To 4-0

Biddeford, MAINE--Keene State College shot 58% in the second half en route to an 89-66 win over the University of New England on Saturday at the Alfond Forum in non-conference men's basketball action.

Keene State, which was playing on the road for the first time this season, improves to 4-0.  The Nor'easters are now 3-2.

The Owls edged out to an early 12-5 lead as Nate Stitchell knocked down a three point shot and Jeff Lunn and Jaquel Edwards scored on back-to-back possessions.  UNE pulled within three on two foul shots by Matt Lettick, but the Owls upped the lead to 30-17 as Andrew Houde scored five straight points and Matt Ozzella tipped in his own miss.

Stitchell was fouled on a three point attempt and made all three shots for a 35-19 lead, but the Nor'easters ended the half on a 10-5 run and trailed 40-29 at the break.  

The Owls never looked back, as Ozzella, Lucas Hammel, and Dizel Wright all knocked down threes during a 13-2 run in the second half that increased KSC's lead to 60-39.

Keene State took their biggest lead at 89-64 on Rodney Jean-Marie's layup with 1:57 left in the game.

Stitchell led the Owls with 17 points, while Hammel had 14 and Ozzella had 12 points and nine boards. 

The Owls will travel to Springfield College for one final game before the Thanksgiving holiday.  Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 pm.
