Box Score DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The Keene State College women's basketball team clinched the No. 4 seed in the upcoming conference tournament with their 70-55 upset win over UMass Dartmouth Saturday afternoon.
The Owls finished the regular season with a 16-9 overall record and 8-6 finish in conference play to earn the right to host a LEC Tournament quarterfinal matchup with Southern Maine Tuesday, February 24 at Spaulding Gymnasium.
UMass Dartmouth (18-7, 10-4) wlll be the No. 2 seed and host Rhode Island College Feb. 24.
KSC held a slim 29-27 advantage at halftime before starting the second half on a 10-2 run for a 40-29 advantage.
Garrity's layup with 6:37 on the clock pulled the Corsairs withing four (49-45) but that is as close as they would get before the Owls pulled away at the end.
Kelsey Cognetta led the way for KSC finishing with 20 points on 6 for 10 shooting, while Stephanie D'Annolfo once again had a complete game recording 12 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Ryanne Williams came off the bench to score five points and pull down a team high 10 rebounds. Christan Wojtas and Sandi Purcell each hit three from long distance for 12 points and nine points, respectively.
For the Corsairs, Kelsey Garrity finished with nine points and 10 boards, while Erin Fahey recorded eight points and six rebounds. Beth Castaintini dished out a game high five assists.
The Owls shot a blistering 51.1 percent (23-45) from the field and drained seven 3-pointers, while holding a 40-33 advantage in rebounds.
