Box Score WALTHAM, Mass. – The Keene State College women's basketball team held a five-point lead with 1:13 remaining, but was unable to close out the game as Jill Valley's layup with three seconds remaining gave Westfield State a 62-61 come from behind win in the semifinals of the ECAC Division III Tournament.
KSC concludes their season at 18-11. Westfield St. improves to 24-5, and will play Brandeis Sunday afternoon in the championship game of the ECAC Division III Tournament.
Wojtas opened the game draining a three, but Westfield responded with a 12-2 run forcing a Keene State timeout.
Cognetta's layup, followed by Wojtas' trey gave the Owls their largest lead of the first half, 25-19 with 5:14 remaining in the half.
Sarah Kober's layup with 14 seconds left gave KSC A 10 point lead, 33-23, going into halftime.
Westfield State opened the second half on a 7-0 run sparked by Jill Valley's four points and a Jen Ashton 3-pointer to make the score 33-30 at the 16:11 mark.
An 11-4 run by KSC was capped by Purcell's 3-pointer giving KSC a 44-37 advantage with 11:00 left to play.
With Keene State holding a 60-55 lead with 1:13 left to play, Kirsy Segarra drained a three and Jen Ashton forced a KSC turnover, followed by a Forbasaw Nkamebo layup to knot the game at 60-60.
Roberts went 1-2 from the charity stripe to give Keene State a 61-60 lead, but Valley's layup with three seconds on the clock proved to be the game winner as KSC turned the ball over on the inbound.
Westfield State's Jill Valley and Jen Ashton each finished with 18 points. Forbasaw Nkamebo recorded a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds, Rebecca Sapouckey pulled down 10 boards.
KSC shot 40% (8-20) from long distance, 50% (7-14) from the free throw line and held a 41-37 advantage on the boards.
