MANSFIELD, Conn.--An eight run second inning lifted the Western Connecticut State University softball team past Keene State College, 12-0 in five innings, in an elimination game at Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday.

Keene State sees the season come to an end at 16-19.

The Owls were limited to just one hit by WCSU starter Alle Sabith, a single by Stephanie Long to lead off the bottom of the first.  

The Colonials got all the runs they needed in the second inning, as Keene State committed three errors in the frame.  

Mariah Crisp took the loss, striking out six and allowing eight runs (just two earned) in 3.2 innings of work.  Ashlee McGan pitched 1.1 innings of relief with two strikeouts. 

The Colonials advanced to the LEC title game, where they fell to Eastern Connecticut State 10-1 in six innings.  The Warriors received the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships.
