Box Score

KEENE, N.H. - The Keene State College field hockey team opened the 2015 campaign with a 2-0 shutout victory over Clark University Tuesday night at Owl Stadium.

Kayla Renaud notched the first goal of the season for the Owls with 15:17 remaining in the half as she sent a shot past the keeper to give KSC the 1-0 lead.

It remained 1-0 at halftime, but Keene State maintained their offensive pressure and Sami Smith gave KSC an insurance goal when she tipped in a shot by Kendal Brown from the top of the circle off a penalty corner at 53:29.

The Cougars best opportunity of the night came on their lone corner with 2:20 left in the contest, but Morgan McMinn came up big, intercepting the insertion pass.

The Owls dominated on the offensive end, holding a 15-1 advantage on corners and outshooting their opponent 27-0, although the Cougars defense stood tall, blocking a majority of the shots faced.

Head coach Amy Watson had high praise for the Clark defense, "They fought us off, we just kept knocking on the door and couldn't finish. They made some nice plays but we weren't getting our shots off on goal in the first half."

Tinsman finished with five saves between in goal for the Cougars, while Meaghan Dwyer did not see a shot all night en route to the shutout.

Keene State faces their first road contest Saturday, September 5 at 1:00. Clark hosts Becker College September 5 at noon.
