Box Score KEENE, N.H. – The Keene State field hockey team dealt Springfield College their first loss of the season in a 3-1 non-conference win Sunday afternoon at Owl Athletic Complex.
The Owls improve to 3-2, while the Pride fall to 3-1.
KSC struck first just 7:21 into the game when Haylie Dolan carried the ball down the end line and found freshman Erica Stauffer in front of an empty net for her second goal of the season.
Dolan doubled Keene State's lead just four minutes later when her shot off a corner trickled in the net.
Springfield College cut the lead in half as Kristina Krull collected a loose ball off a corner to put the visitors on the board at the 18:29 mark.
Sami Smith responded just minutes later when she found herself alone with the keeper, sending home her third goal of the season.
Both teams played a scoreless second half for the 3-1 final.
Owls' senior goalkeeper Meaghan Dwyer made 4 saves, while Timarie Villa made recorded 12 stops in the loss.
The Owls outshot Springfield 16-7 and held a 7-5 edge in corners.
Keene State travels to No. 12 Amherst College Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
