Brown Nets Game-Winner in 1-0 Victory Over Western Connecticut

Box Score

KEENE, N.H. – The Keene State College field hockey team remained undefeated in conference play with their 1-0 win over Western Connecticut State Saturday afternoon at Owl Stadium.

The Owls improve to 5-4 (3-0 LEC), while the Colonials drop to 3-5, (1-2 LEC).  Kendal Brown got the only goal of the game just before halftime.

Brown's heroics extended to the other side of the field as well; the Colonials were awarded a corner with four seconds left in the first half, and Brown cleared Caitlin Ogrizovich's shot off the line to keep Western Connecticut State off the scoreboard.

KSC outshot the Colonials 22-6, but were stymied by Western Connecticut State goalie Kristy Trotta, who finished with 11 saves.

Gwendolyn Thayer made her first start of the year for the Owls, making just one stop while recording her first career shutout.

The Owls host LEC foe Salem State Tuesday at 6:30 pm.  The Colonials travel to in-state rival Eastern Connecticut State on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. start.
