Box Score KEENE, N.H. – Angela Silveri's 13 kills and 17 digs powered the Keene State College women's volleyball team to a 3-1 (25-23, 16-25, 25-16, 25-22) win over Division II St. Michael's College Saturday afternoon at Spaulding Gymnasium.
The Owls improve to 11-4, while the Purple Knights dip to record to 6-4.
Freshman Jenny Nohara set a new career-high with 15 assists, while Alexis Michal finished with 22 assists. Rachel Lamica hammered down 11 kills, while freshman Riley Bunker recorded 17 digs.
For the visitors, Kelsey Flaherty registered a double-double of 24 digs and 11 kills, while classmate Candace Washington delivered a team-high 15 kills and five total blocks.
Nohara served three straight aces to take a 7-4 lead in the first set, but the Purple Knights went on a run on their own, resulting in a 10-10 tie. Hadfield's kill gave the Owls a 24-23 lead and the KSC defense forced an attack error by the Purple Knights to take the first set.
St. Michael's ran away with the second set, 25-16 capped by two kills from Kelsey Flaherty.
The Owls defense came up big in the third set as they recorded six total blocks on their way to a 25-16 set win.
The fourth set was closely contested with neither team claiming a lead larger than two points until a Silveri kills gave the Owls a 10-8 lead. It would remain back and forth until the Owls capitolazed on an attach error by the Purple Knights to earn the win.
KSC travels to Rivier for a non-conference match with the Raiders Tuesday, September 29 at 7:00 pm.
