Driscoll's Double Duty Leads KSC Men's Swimming Past Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--After two weeks off, the Keene State College swimming and diving teams were back in action, taking on Springfield College and Wheaton College (Mass.) in a tri-meet at the Art Linkletter Natatorium on Saturday.

Men's Results

  • Ryan Boraski picked up wins in the 50 free, 100 back, and 100 free.  The senior won the 100 back in 52.67, the 50 free in 20.98, and the 100 free in 44.96, a time that currently ranks as the fastest in all of NCAA Division III.
  • Kyle Shadeck also notched a pair of wins, taking the 100 fly in 54.14 and the 200 fly in 1:59.19.  
  • Antony Hubbard won the 1,000 free, with a time of 10:33.91, nearly 10 seconds ahead of Springfield's Sean Harnish.  Nate Shepard notched a win in the 100 breaststroke, with a time of 59.55, and took the 200 breaststroke in 2:13.92.
  • Graham Lott was second in the 200 free in 1:50.25.
  • Jake Driscoll was the hero in both swimming and diving, taking second on the 3-meter board with a score of 220.80 and third on the 1-meter dive with a score of 215.40.   He then swapped the board for the lanes, anchoring the 200 free B relay to score the final point Keene State needed for a 147-146 win over Springfield.  The Owls did fall to Wheaton 159-135.


Women's Results

  • Hope Walsh won the 1,000 freestyle in 10:56.56, a time that was seven seconds faster than Springfield's Haley Cordery.  She also won the 500 free in 5:17.12, a dominating performance that saw her win by more than eight seconds.  Walsh also took second in the 200 free in 2:00.28.
  • Margaret Dean was third in the 50 free in 26.07, and also picked up a third place finish in the 100 free, clocking in at 56.90.  Dean also added a second place finish in the 100 fly in 1:00.86.  
  • Alex McCafferty took second in the 200 backstroke, with a time of 2:17.40.
  • Jess Beler had season bests on both boards, scoring a 184.60 on the 1-meter and a career best 190.20 on the 3-meter.
  • The Owls fell to Wheaton 207-91 and to Springfield 218-80.
