Softball Splits With Endicott, William Paterson

CLERMONT, Fla.--The Keene State College softball team rapped out 12 hits as the Owls picked up a 4-3 win over Endicott College on Monday.  The Owls fell in the nightcap to William Paterson, 8-0.

  • The Owls will get another crack at William Paterson on Tuesday at 11 a.m.  Before that, KSC will play Transylvania (Ky.).

How It Happened - Game One

  • Stephanie Long, Jen Galavotti, and Olivia Indorf each had three hits, and Morgan Fallon had two to start the Keene State offense.
  • Mariah Crisp (3-1) tossed another complete game, striking out six and lowering her ERA to 1.21.
  • Galavotti led off the top of the second with a single, and moved to second on Indorf's double to left center.   Shae Crosby hit into a fielder's choice that cut down Galavotti, but an Endicott error allowed Brittany DaMota to reach and scored Indorf.
  • The Owls added two more in the third when Heather Pelletier walked and Galavotti crushed her first home run of the season to center field.  
  • Endicott tied the game with a two out rally in the fifth, getting two runs on a KSC error and an RBI double by Lindsee Allienello. 
  • KSC had its own two out rally to win in the top of the seventh.  Fallon and Galavotti had back-to-back singles, and Indorf singled down the left field line to bring Fallon across with the game winning run.
  • Crisp then ended the game by retiring Danielle Stratton, Casie Beauchemin, and Jamie Corda.

How It Happened - Game Two

  • Keene State managed just five hits and committed six errors against the Pioneers.  
  • Long, Fallon, Indorf, and Courtney Votto each had a hit.  Molly St. Germain took the loss, striking out two in four innings of work.
  • William Paterson sent 11 batters to the plate in the fifth inning, scoring five times and taking advantage of two errors in the frame.
  • Keene State's best chance came in the top of the fourth when Fallon singled and moved to third on an error, but was caught at home trying to steal.
