WINTER GARDEN, Fla.--The Keene State College softball team ended its trip to Florida a pair of losses, 3-0 to Stockton (N.J.) and 2-1 to McDaniel College (Md.) on Friday afternoon.

Records

  • Keene State: 5-9
  • Stockton: 7-2
  • McDaniel: 8-8

Up Next

  • Keene State returns to New England to begin Little East Conference play against Western Connecticut State on April 2.

How It Happened - Game One

  • Keene State managed just three hits off Stockton starter Samantha Shockey.  Jen Galavotti had two hits, and Kayla Votto had the other.
  • Mariah Crisp threw another complete game, with nine strikeouts.  The senior needs 14 more to reach the 600 mark for her career.
  • Galavotti hit a one-out triple in the bottom of the second, but was left stranded when Olivia Indorf and Shae Crosby grounded out to short and second, respectively.
  • The Ospreys got two runs in the top of the third.  Shockey supported her own cause with an RBI single through the right side, and Catherine Wunder made it 2-0 when her single up the middle brought in Danielle Lugo.
  • KSC had baserunners on in the fifth, when Kristin Boduch was hit by a pitch, and again in the seventh, when Galavotti walked and moved to second on a groundout, but the game was ended on an interference call.

How It Happened - Game Two

  • Molly St. Germain struck out seven in 6.1 innings of work, but the Green Terror walked off with the win in the bottom of the seventh.
  • Keene State had taken a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Stephanie Long hit a leadoff double, and after Kayla Votto drew a walk, Morgan Fallon singled through the right side to put the Owls in front.
  • St. Germain kept the Green Terror off the scoreboard until the third inning, when Lindsey Miller singled, stole second, and scored on a KSC error.  The freshman worked out of another jam in the fifth when McDaniel had runners on second and third, but ended the inning when Payton Lewis flied out to left.
  • McDaniel won the game in the bottom of the seventh; Taylor Fletcher hit a one-out double, and pinch runner Ally Galati crossed the plate with the winning run on Roxana Aviles' single to left.
