Crisp Breaks KSC All-Time Strikeout Record As Owls Rout Baruch

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.--Mariah Crisp became Keene State College's all-time leader in strikeouts with a 14 K, no-hit performance in a 25-0 whitewash of Baruch in the season opener on Saturday.

Crisp, who came into the season needing 10 Ks to surpass Ashlee Nicholson '08, set down all but one of the Bearcats by way of the strikeout.  She now has 537 career strikeouts.

The Owls nearly set a record for offense with the 25 runs, falling one shy of the school record of 26 set against UMass Boston in 1999.   Crisp's 14 strikeouts in the game were also one short of the school record, something Crisp herself has done on three different occasions.

The Owls got all the offense they would need when Olivia Indorf crushed a grand slam in the first inning.   KSC took advantage of six Bearcat errors and banged out 15 hits.

Freshman Courtney Votto marked her collegiate debut with a 3-for-4 performance with two doubles and seven RBI.  Senior Stephanie Long was 4-for-5 with a walk and three runs.  For the game, 10 different Owls recorded a hit.

In the second game of the day, Keene State fell to Salem (Va.) 9-3.  Pelletier, Galavotti, and Courtney Votto each had an RBI for KSC.  Molly St. Germain was tagged with the loss, allowing two runs with a strikeout in four innigns.
