NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.--Senior Kaitlin Wheeler won the steeplechase, the 1,500 meters, and served as the anchor of the 4x800 meter relay at the Little East Conference/New England Alliance Championships at UMass Dartmouth on Saturday.
The Owl women were fourth overall, while the men were seventh.
Women's Highlights
- Wheeler won the steeplechase in dominating fashion, finishing in 10:58.29 to win by nearly 33 seconds. Her time is currently 17th best in the country. Wheeler then edged out Southern Maine's Hannah Damron in the 1,500 meters in a photo finish, finishing .04 seconds ahead of Damron in 4:47.59.
- Wheeler also ran the 4x800 meter relay with Alyssa Lombardi, Lauren Markoe, and Brittany Gravallese in 9.42.69, nipping Westfield State by a mere .01 seconds.
- Lindsay Szuch won the LEC title in the 5,000 meters in 18:22.98. Lauren Markoe won the 800 meters in 2:17.85, beating teammate Katelyn Terry, who was second in 2:20.40. Brittany Gravallese was seventh in 2:23.54.
- Ashley Rozzi picked up an LEC title in the javelin, throwing 37.86. Karisa Bergman was second amongst LEC competitors in the discus with a toss of 33.76 meters, and was third in the shot put in 11.59 meters.
- Katelyn Terry was third overall in the 400 meter dash, in 57.33, and also ran the 4x400 meter relay that was third in 4:02.80 with Lindsey Terry, Allison Brady, and Gravallese. Katelyn Terry was also fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.69 meters.
Men's Highlights
- Mark Rabasco was the Little East Conference Champion in the 10,000 meters, finishing in 32:17.86 to win by 25 seconds. Philip Parent also picked up a win in the 5,000 meters, winning by nearly two full seconds in 15:19.96.
- Jared Hannon won the long jump for the third week in a row, taking the LEC title in 6.75 meters.
- Iid Sheikh-Yusuf was fourth in the 5,000 meters in 15:49.61, and Ian Connell was eighth in 16:11.74.
- Ryan Brady was second in the steeplechase, finishing in 9:47.14.
- Matt Dudley was eighth overall in the 1,500 meters, with a time of 4:12.68.
- The 4x400 meter relay team of Eric Dietz, Quentin Bazarnicki, Devin Sanford, and Jared Hannon placed fifth in the 4x400 meter relay in 3:27.21.
- Alex Magoon was sixth in the javelin, throwing 54.50 meters.
