Tale of the Tape

  • Reigning LEC Player of the Week Jennifer Galavotti was a combined 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, two walks, two RBI, and three runs scored.
  • Crisp went the distance in the opener, striking out 10.  Her fifth, a swinging strikeout of Emma Simmons in the third inning, gave her 600 career Ks.
  • Morgan Fallon also had a solid day at the plate, hitting a combined 4-for-6 with three doubles and four RBI.
  • The Anchorwomen were led by shortstop Nicole Venturini, who finished with four hits and five RBI on the day.

How It Happened - Game One

  • The Owls pounded out 11 hits and scored in each of the first three innings.  Stephanie Long led off with a walk, and moved to second on Kayla Votto's bunt single.  After both runners moved up on a groundout, Fallon roped a double to right center to bring both around.
  • Galavotti followed with a double down the left field line to plate Fallon for a 3-0 lead.
  • Keene State tacked on another run in the second when Kristin Boduch scored on a wild pitch, and another in the third when Galavotti cracked her her third home run of the year over the fence in right.
  • Crisp kept the Anchorwomen off the scoreboard until the fifth, when a pair of walks and an error alowed RIC to get within 5-3, but Crisp got out of trouble by striking out Mary Sweeney.
  • RIC had the tying run at the plate in the sixth and seventh innings, but Crisp again worked out of trouble, getting Lauren Disciullo to pop back to her, and striking out Sarah Molin to end the game.

How It Happened - Game Two

  • Fallon, Kayla Votto, and Shea Crosby each drove in two runs as Keene State held off a late comeback by the Anchorwomen in the nightcap.
  • RIC struck in the top of the first on an RBI triple off the bat of Nicole Venturini, but it didn't take long for the Owls to take the lead back.
  • Galavotti led off the bottom of the second with a walk, and scored on Brittany DaMota's single to right.  Molly St. Germain singled and Long drew a walk to load the bases, and Votto smashed a single center field to bring in DaMota and St. Germain.
  • After Venturini drove in another run in the third that made it 3-2, Crosby hit her first collegiate home run in the bottom half, a two run shot that just cleared the fence in right.
  • Back-to-back singles by Long and Votto set the table for Fallon to open the fourth, and the senior hit her first double of the game and second of the day to right-center to bring both around.
  • Molly St. Germain went the first four innings, allowing two runs and striking out two.  Freshman Leah Rowe tossed two innings of relief, allowing a pair of runs in the fifth on a single by Sarah Molin and two more in the sixth on RBI hits from Duvall and Venturini.
  • Crisp came back out for the seventh inning, and struck out Cristin Chiaverini, followed by a groundout by Molin.  Sarah Nolan drew a walk, but Crisp slammed the door shut by getting Brianna Gough to end the game.
