WALTHAM, Mass.--The Keene State College swimming and diving teams combined to win 23 events at a tri-meet at Brandeis University's Linsey Pool on Saturday.
The Keene State men defeated Bridgewater State 170-117, and fell by a narrow score to Brandeis, 141-137. The Owl women rolled past both opponents, defeating Bridgewater State 217-66, and Brandeis 195-97.
Women's Highlights
- The meet started off strongly, as Hope Walsh, Olivia Pechulis, Alexandra McCafferty, and Sophie Hayes teamed up to win the 400 medley relay in 4:17.70.
- Walsh continued her strong season with a string of individual wins, taking the 1,000 free in 11:05.24, the 200 free in 1:57.26, and the 500 free in 5:11.88.
- Hayes also notched a pair of victories, taking the 100 back in 1:04.76, and the 200 fly in 2:15.61.
- Margaret Dean nabbed a win in the 50 freestyle, touching the wall in 25.51, while also taking the 100 freestyle in 56.07, and the 100 fly in 1:00.27. McCafferty added a solo win in the 200 back, with a six second victory in 2:17.24.
- With Brandeis pool only accomodating 1-meter dives, Jessica Beler won both sets, taking the six dive competition with a score of 218.15, and the additional five dives with a score of 168.95.
- Dean, along with Paige Westley, Rachel MacKinnon, and Katie Brandeberry ended the meet with a win in the 200 free relay, taking the race in 1:45.30.
Men's Highlights
- Keene State also took the 400 medley relay on the men's side of the action, as Ryan Boraski, Eric King, Kyle Shadeck, and Graham Lott won with a time of 3:39.86.
- Boraski picked up wins in the 200 free, in 1:49.11, the 100 back in 54.48, and the 100 free in 46.92.
- Eric King picked up a photo finish victory in the 100 breast, winning in 1:03.25, just .52 seconds ahead of teammate Quinn Severs, who placed second in 1:03.77. King also took the 200 breaststroke in 2:18.68, and the 200 IM in 2:01.19.
- Graham Lott added a victory in the 500 free, with a near five second win in 5:03.57.
- Jake Driscoll topped both sets of 1-meter dives, with scores of 159.60 and 267.40. The combined score of 427 qualifies him for the NCAA Diving Regional meet at MIT on February 24-25.
